A few months ago I was looking for a new car, all the American car companies had good deals going on trying to save there business.
I looked a several compact cars and decided that the 2009 Chevy HHR was the best choice. I decided on what options I needed and went from their.
I purchased a Silver/Gray HHR with standard options and a 5 speed manual transmission. I needed the 5 speed for I drive over the mountains in Colorado quite frequently.
I put 11,000 miles on this 2009 HHR in the first 2 months. Plenty of power, comfortable ride, but I was not pleased at all with the handling of the HHR. Anytime the wind would blow, even a small wind, the HHR would jump all over the road, very unsafe, and that is not all. Anytime the road had grooved pavement, it seamed that the rear wheals of the HHR would follow the grooves and it would feel like the rear end of the car was trying to pass the front. This was a very, scary, unsafe feeling, so I took the car back to the Chevy dealer and let them inspect it to make sure it was safe. And guess what, they could not find anything wrong with the HHR, in fact the service technician told me that it was very typical to this car.
I then did some research and found out that, not just my HHR, but everyone that owned one said the same thing. Everyone I talked to said that there HHR did the same thing.
I am just wondering how can Chevy, the heart of American cars, build a car that feels so unsafe? I called there customer service and there is nothing they can do, I am stuck with a $17,000 dollar car that I am not happy.
If have purchased a 2009 HHR and are unhappy with it, please let me know and maybe we can get Chevrolet to do something about this.
If you are thinking about purchasing a new HHR, check it out thoroughly and make sure this is what you want, once you buy, it is yours.
